15.05.2017 – Operational data of the group “Information Resistance”
Over the past weekend (13-14.05.2017), the number and intensity of shelling by the Russian-terrorist forces in the Donbas has sharply increased. At the same time, the invaders continue to actively use 120 mm mortars, 122 mm cannon artillery, occasionally – 122 mm MLRS BM-21 “Grad”, which are banned by Minsk agreements. Also, the enemy actively uses armored vehicles on the front lines (in small groups and singly), including tanks. In addition, on many sectors of the front, small infantry groups of the enemy are actively engaged in activities aimed at the sudden shelling of the front edge of ATO forces, conducting sabotage and active reconnaissance with the aim of disclosure the defense system of Ukrainian troops in the front line and in the tactical depth of the battle formations.
The tendency of the occupiers to use their fire initiative is aimed at not only provoking Ukrainian troops to open retaliatory fire or firing on residential buildings, but also with the aim of inflicting a fire on the advanced units of the UAF and forcing them to withdraw from a number of frontiers and positions. There are also cases of adjustment fire of the artillery units of the invaders were noted.
In particular, in the ATO zone during the last 24 hours, the following cases of heavy weaponry use by the enemy and the most intensive firing have been observed:
In the Mariupol direction (on the Pavlopol-Shirokino section), the invaders continue attempts to push off the UAF units directly to the eastern outskirts of Mariupol by massive shelling. Thus, the Ukrainian advanced positions east of Vodyanoe, south-east of Lebedinskoe, along the eastern outskirts of Shirokino, were repeatedly exposed to massive fire raids from 120-mm mortars and 122-mm cannon artillery during the day. The enemy also fired from these weapons to positions of ATO forces east of Lomakino, Talakovka and Gnutovo. Fire raids from heavy weapons were accompanied by permanent fire from heavy machine guns, 82-mm mortars, hand and heavy mounted grenade launchers and automatic small arms on the battle formations of the advanced units of the UAF.
The active actions of mobile fire groups of occupants are marked on a site between Naberezhnoe and Verkhneshirokovskoe (former October). This group usually consists of – 1-2 units of 120-mm mortars, 2-3 units of 82-mm automatic mortars type 2B9 “Cornflower”, sometimes these groups are reinforced by 1-2 units of anti-aircraft missile systems ZU-23-2. These fire groups are used for short fire raids along the front edge, after which they quickly leave the firing positions. Over the past day, similar groups repeatedly fired upon the positions of the UAF to north-east of Pavlopol, to the south and east of Chermalyk, as well as to the north and east of Pishchevik. It should be noted that the occupants widely disseminated the practice of using such groups not only in the Mariupol direction, but also in other parts of the ATO zone.
Also in the Mariupol direction, the enemy actively used armored vehicles. So, south-east of the Vodyanoe, the group of two BMP-2, under the cover of fire by 82-mm automatic mortar, fired several series by regular 30-mm automatic guns on the advanced positions of ATO forces with repeated changes of firing positions. In the area northeast of Shirokino, a single BMP-2 also repeatedly opened fire on the advanced positions of the UAF. North of the route Mariupol-Telmanovo, BTR-70/80 of enemy maneuvered on the front line and fired on the advanced positions of the UAF to the west of Pikuzy (former Kominternovo).
The night artillery shelling by the invaders (13.05.2017 at 01.42) from the 152 mm artillery to the tactical rear of the UAF on the Novognatovka-Bogdanovka section attracts attention. In particular, the enemy, from the positions south-east of Styla, caused a short fire attack by a separate artillery battery (4 units of 152-mm cannon type 2A65 Msta-B) at the tactical rear of the UAF (18 shell bursts of HE fragmentation shells were recorded at the Nikolayev reservoir in the fields between Rybinsk and Bugas towards Volnovaha). The aim, apparently, was one of the rear facilities of the brigade of the UAF, which is locating in this area.
In Donetsk direction, shelling is also permanent. Heavy weapons are used by the enemy most actively in the Avdeevka area, as well as in the area of the highway junction at the Koltsevaya road north of the Donetsk-Severnyi railway station, the air shaft of the Putilovskaya mine (Butovka) and the DAP. It recorded the use of the 122-mm artillery, 120-mm and 82-mm mortars by the enemy. The repeated use of single combat armored groups by the occupiers was noted. So, in the area of Peski, a pair of combat armored vehicles (BMP-1 and BMP-2) fired from the southern part of Zhobunki (with a change of positions), later – 82 mm and 120 mm mortars actively fired to the Opytnoe. Several short but intense fire raids from 120-mm mortars and 122-mm cannon artillery were sequentially committed by the occupying forces in the area of Almaz, Tsarskaya Okhota and Avdeyevka’s industrial zone, as well as north (near Staraya Avdeevka). Also in this area, the enemy used 122-mm artillery (separate shell bursts were fixed near the Levanevsky street and Shkolny Lane).
In the Marinka area, the invaders by the mobile fire group repeatedly fired 120-mm mortars from the southern outskirts of Aleksandrovka along the eastern outskirts of Maryinka and the advanced positions of the UAF south of this settlement. The active combination of 82-mm and 120-mm mortars is used during the firing at positions of Ukrainian troops in the area of the Internat (fire is mainly from the dumps at Trudovskie (Donetsk) and the forest park to the south). From the private sector in the same area, south of the Osykovaya River, a couple of combat armored vehicles of occupants (BMP-2 and BTR-80) alternately opened fire on the advanced positions of ATO forces on the eastern outskirts of the village.
The area of the Svetlodarskaya arc, the situation sharply escalated in the Novoluganskoe region (according to preliminary data, the extreme dissatisfaction of militants caused the “closure” of the smuggling route by Ukrainian troops in this area). From the Dolomitnoe railway station, enemy led permanent fire at the advanced positions of the UAF on the eastern outskirts of the village, also 82 mm mortars and heavy machine guns fired from the side of Travnevoe and active shelling of 120 mm mortars from positions east of Holmovskoe. In the course of the last weekend, the 122-mm MLRS BM-21 Grad fire raid was conducted from the enemy’s side along the farm and the northeastern outskirts of Novoluganskoe. It was an attempt to “test” the firepower of Ukrainian troops in this sector.
In the area from Lozovoe to Rassadki, the permanent shelling conducts by the occupiers with the use of 120-mm mortars and BMP-1/2. The scheme is the same as the IR group reported earlier – a hidden ingress to the front edge in pre-equipped and disguised firing positions – a short but massive fire raid with mortars and under their cover – a withdrawal into the depths of the battle formations.
The armored group of the invaders fired on the UAF positions east of Troitskoe, (a tank and BMP-1, changing each other and firing positions, fired at the advanced positions of the UAF for at least an hour). Actions of armored vehicles were covered with fire of 120-mm and 82-mm mortars.
In the Novozvanovka area, the invaders resumed firing from 122-mm cannon artillery. From the position northeast of Kalinovo, the enemy’s artillery battery (4 units of 122 mm self-propelled gun 2S1 “Gvozdika”) consistently fired (in series of 12-15 shells) at the advanced positions of the UAF to the north-east and east of the village (individual shells were exploded in the vicinity of the railway station “10th km”). During the shelling, the enemy battery was a maneuvering and changing the fire positions.
In the area of the Bahmut route (Lugansk-Severodonetsk) along the Severskiy Donets River, the occupiers again began actively using 120-mm mortars, armored vehicles and 122-mm artillery. So, in the Crimskoe region, single BMP-1, under the cover of the fire of heavy machine guns and 82-mm mortars, tried to hit the fortifications on one of the stronghold points of the UAF from several positions. A short raid of 122 mm artillery (3 units of 122 mm D-30A cannons) was fixed at the advanced positions of the UAF from positions south of Prishib (up to 20 shells).

Attention is drawn to the active movement of the transport of the occupants in two directions: Shakhtersk – Khartsyzk and through Starobeshevo. Within 3 days were several convoys (through Shakhtersk – 2 units of 152 mm self-propelled gun 2C3 “Acacia” on the low bed trucks towards Makeyevka, at least 20 trucks, as part of 3 different convoys, to the south Starobeshevo – a mixed convoy of 3 MT-LB and 4 trucks Kamaz in the direction to the south and 2 trucks Ural towards Styla).
An intensive redeployment of mortar and artillery ammunition from the base warehouse in the Amvrosievka settlement in the direction of Donetsk (5-6 trucks per day) was recorded.
In the area of the Novoamvrosievskoe (Amvrosievka district) arrived 8 units of MLRS “Grad”, previously redeployed from the Russian Federation. These systems are located on the territory of Novoamvrosievsky Cement Plant (Heidelberg Cement in Ukraine). Ammunition and equipment are also redeployed by railway transport to the territory of the plant.
In the area of the Lenin mine (Gorlovka), occupants are engaged in excavation work, and the preparation of new firing positions is being carried out. According to the plans of the command of the invaders, the enemy formations, which are operating in this area, will be reinforced with fire weapons – 120 mm mortars and anti-tank heavy mounted grenade launchers SPG-9.
The command of the 2nd Army Corps LPR coordinates with the Center for Territorial Troops of the South-East District of the Russian Armed Forces plans for a sharp increase in the firepower of the artillery units of the Corps. According to the proposals, the artillery divisions in the brigades of the 2nd Army Corps LPR are transferred from 3 batteries to 4 batteries structure, while the 4th battery will be “long-range” or “heavy”. The weapons are 152-mm 2A36 cannons “Hyacint” and 203-mm self-propelled guns 2S7 “Pion”. According to the alternative proposal, instead of changing the structure of the divisions, it is necessary to form a separate “reserve division of the supreme command” with the “Hyacint” and “Pion”, or a brigade of 3 batteries equipped with these guns. It should be noted that separate groups of 1-2 such guns already operate in the test mode as part of the 2nd Army Corps LPR.
An ictus of pediculosis was recorded in the 9th separate motorized rifle regiment of the Marine Corps of the 1st Army Corps DPR (Novoazovsk district) at the positions and bases in the direct proximity of the front line. Currently, militants are actively conducting measures for disinfection, in an emergency order issued new equipment and uniforms.
The leaders of the social movement “Peace for Lugansk region” (controlled by I.Plotnitsky) were instructed by Russian curators to intensify the process of attracting residents of the pseudo-republic into their ranks. In particular, before September 1 this year, the number of members of the movement should be increased to 100 thousand people (currently 88 thousand). In order to fulfill this instruction, the heads of the territorial organizations of the social movement “Peace for Lugansk region” resort to falsifications by including in the ranks of the movement the deceased, as well as the citizens who left the temporarily occupied territory.
