IR summary: Occupants strengthen advanced positions with additional firepower

Summary of the Information Resistance group

During the past week, the intensity of the fire strikes from the enemy to the positions of the Ukrainian troops and settlements in the territory controlled by Ukraine slightly decreased. In total, during this period, units of 1st and 2nd Army Corps of the Russian occupation forces carried out 167 fire raids (about 245 last week), using large-caliber machine guns, light and heavy grenade launchers, as well as automatic small arms. In some cases, the fire was conducted by their anti-aircraft installations of the ZU-23-2 type, the ATGM and the standard armament of armored combat vehicles (BMP, BTR). In addition, the occupants sporadically used weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements, namely – 122-mm artillery systems, 120/82-mm mortars, tanks.

The advanced enemy units, reinforced by sniper groups, were active in the Bakhmut, Avdeevka and Mariupol sectors. The most intense fire strikes of the enemy on the positions of Ukrainian troops were in the areas of next settlements: Crymskoe, Lebedinskoye, Berezovoe, Luganskoe, Novotoshkovskoe, Yuzhnoe, Travnevoe, Mayorskoe, Novoluganskoe, Bolotnoe, Zolotoe-4, Zaitsevo, Popasnaya, Novgorodskoe, Hutor Volny, Avdeevka, Bogdanovka, Nikolaevka, Pishevik, Marinka, Krasnogorlovka, Novotroitskoe, Opytnoe, Pavlopol, Peski, Vodyanoe and Shyrokyno.

In order to strengthen its defense and quickly respond to changes in the situation, the enemy continues to actively use mobile armored groups, which, as a rule, are used on the most vulnerable areas in the event of intensified hostilities. In some cases, the composition of the armored groups includes tanks (up to 1-2 units).

The enemy continued active conduct of aerial reconnaissance (UAV) in order to identify changes in the combat formations of the Joint forces. In total, from July 2 to July 8 of this year, 17 reconnaissance flights of UAVs were recorded including 10 flights of UAVs of the Orlan-10 and Granat types, which were carried out with an approach into the operational-tactical depth of the defense of the Joint forces. At the same time, the enemy paid special attention to controlling the unmasking signs of their units at the forward positions, clarifying the operational situation, changes in the battle formations and the location of the JF reserves in the Avdeeka, Volnovakha and Mariupol directions.

Specially allocated duty artillery units of the enemy were in a state of constant readiness to deliver fire strikes against the positions of units and subunits of the Joint forces. They were trained daily in deployment to get to the advanced firing positions, fire control and preparation for firing strikes. Vigorous activity of the sniper and maneuverable EW groups of the enemy continues along the entire contact line.

During the week, the command of the illegal armed groups organized and carried out the following events:

Fire training with artillery calculations of units and subunits of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps of the Russian Armed Forces at the Udarny and Vostochny ranges;

Shooting and fire training with units of the 1st Army Corps of the RF Armed Forces at the Yuzhny range;

Training on firing control with mortar squads from the units of the 1st and 2nd of the Russian Armed Forces at the Slavny and Primorsky ranges.

During July 2-5 this year, according to the unified plan of the Southern Military District of the RF Armed Forces, bilateral command and staff exercises were conducted with units of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps of the Russian Armed Forces. Within the framework of this event, separate units and subunits were brought to the highest degree of combat readiness and deployed to the “Udaloy” and “Centralniy-1” ranges. The main theme of the exercise is offensive.

In July 4-5 of this year, according to the unified plan of the Southern Military District of the RF Armed Forces, communication training was conducted in the networks of the communication and alert systems in the units of 1st and 2nd Army Corps.

Other military activity

Throughout the week, the enemy continued to improve the frontiers of his defense in terms of fortification along the entire contact line. The most active work was carried out on the equipment and the construction of shelters for personnel of the “foxhole” type and masking the advanced position.

The command of the occupation forces continues to take measures to strengthen its advanced units in a number of areas with additional fire weapons. Thus, in the area to the east of the Terrikonnaya railway station, the presence of 3-4 120-mm mortars is noted, which periodically open fire both towards the leading positions of the JF in the Novoluganskoe area and in the Zaytsevo area. At a number of stronghold points in the Pervomaisk area, enemy also added additional fire weapons – mainly in the form of large-caliber machine guns and heavy grenade launchers of the AGS-17/21 type.

In the Kreshchatytskoe – Kozatskoe area, there is an active movement of army vehicles, both towards Verkhneshirokovskoe and towards Novoazovsk and Bezymennoe. The transportation of personnel and a number of fire weapons (82 mm mortars and ZU-23-2 AD systems) are marked. Apparently, a partial rotation or regrouping is underway.

In the period from 2 to 8 July of this year, the confirmed losses of the Russian occupation forces in the Donbas amounted to 7 people:

1st Army Corps – 1st separate mechanized brigade (Kalmius) – 1 serviceman, 3rd separate mechanized brigade (Gorlovka) – 1 serviceman, 9th separate mechanized regiment (Novoazovsk) – 2 servicemen, 11th  separate mechanized regiment (Donetsk) – 1 serviceman;

2nd Army Corps – 4th separate mechanized brigade (Alchevsk) – 1 serviceman, 7th separate mechanized brigade (Bryanka) – 1 serviceman.

To ensure the terrorist activities of the units of 1st and 2nd Army Corps of Russian occupying forces, about 2000 tons of fuel and lubricants were delivered from the territory of Russia (mainly via the railway station Rovenky) from July 2 to July 8 of this year.

Other news

In order to prevent military personnel of 1st and 2nd Army Corps from entering the territory under the control of Ukraine, the occupying command forcibly withdraw from them the Ukrainian passports, which are supposed to be saved in a “secret unit”. A significant number of “soldiers” of the occupational formations from among the local collaborators are sure, that they will not see these passports (as it would be destroyed by the command).

The occupation administration of the so-called “DPR” began the process of closing the Central Enrichment Station “Mospinskaya”. Administration motivates these actions by a sharp reduction in the volume of coal mined in the occupied territory under its control.

The authorities of the occupied Yenakiyevo are planning to the procedure of “reorganization” and the closure of the Trade, Metallurgical and Mining technical schools begin in the near future. It seems that this “forced measure” is caused by a sharp decline in those wishing to receive a secondary vocational education in “educational institutions of the DPR”. In fact, many officials of the occupying authorities openly assert that “… there simply is not enough money for the maintenance of these institutions”.

The same reason is given by the “DPR” occupation administration in justifying the cancellation of social assistance payments to parents of newborns during the first year of their life (amounted to 20,460 Russian rubles).
