Operational data from Information Resistance:
The situation in the ATO zone remained relatively calm during the past 24 hours. Incidents of erratic fire were observed on the Luhanske – Popasna – Zolote stretch, in the vicinity of Kirove and Horlivka, and south of Mar’inka.
The ATO forces in the so-called “grey zones” are carrying out mine clearing operations and evacuating the victims’ bodies for subsequent identification.
Terrorists intensified their efforts to provide “green” corridors for contraband, which makes it necessary for the ATO forces to ensure more active anti-contraband efforts.
In the vicinity of Donetsk Airport, militants deployed positions for an armored group – up to 5 armored combat vehicles and 3 tanks.
Near the settlement of Kuteinykove, positions have been equipped for a motorized rifle terrorist unit on board of BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and MT-LB.
In the vicinity of Perevalsk, two company-level motorized rifle militant units (14 armored combat vehicles of various types, and 6 tanks) are carrying out combat training.
A battalion-level terrorist unit in the area of Telmanove is equipping its combat positions.
In the western part of Donetsk, [we recorded] firing positions for 120 mm mortars, which militants had not withdrawn from the demarcation line.
Three tanker trucks and five covered army trucks, with an escort of 2 MT-LB and BTR-80 APCs passed through Shakhtarsk in the direction of Starobesheve.
A 12-tank unit deployed north of Yasynuvata split into several armored groups. Four tanks and an infantry platoon remained at their positions, while the rest moved in the direction of Spartak.
An illegal armed formation (formerly the “Prizrak” [Ghost] gang) located in the vicinity of Zholobok is undergoing rotation.
All commandant’s offices of the “DNR” [Donetsk People’s Republic] terrorist organizations received a circular with orders to prepare for the “elections” planned for October 18.
The Order of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation: to withdraw from Donbas certain units of the regular Russian army and several, mostly combat-ready units of Russian mercenaries, for subsequent redeployment to Syria – has caused panic in the “DNR” and the “LNR” [Luhansk People’s Republic]. Local terrorist command believes that Moscow is relinquishing its plans to further escalate the conflict in Donbas and is abandoning local terrorists to their own devices. Their panic is exacerbated by the rumors of the impending reinforcement of security on the state border between Russia and Ukraine, specifically in areas adjacent to the occupied territories; the security reinforcement will be allegedly carried out by the FSB [Federal Security Service] Border Forces, in order to prevent entry to Russia by “undesirable elements” from among their own [Russian] mercenaries and local militants.
Many of the Russian “advisors” (regular officers of the Russian army) to gangs and “command bodies” of the 1st and 2nd “Army Corps” (of the “DNR” and the “LNR”) are leaving for Russia. At this time, there is no information to confirm whether their departure is carried out as part of a rotation, or whether the Russian General Staff is winding down the scale of military “assistance” to local militants.
