DMITRY TYMCHUK: Negotiations With Terrorists

Some citizen Alexei Karjakin, who is called the “Chairman of the Parliament” of the terrorist organization “LNR” [Luhansk People’s Republic] said that the organization has canceled all military operations in compliance with the ceasefire agreement until June 27, 2014.

If you believe this, given the nonstop attacks in Luhansk (and Donetsk) area, we come to the following conclusions:

1. “LNR” does not have any influence in the environment of terrorist groups operating in Donbas. “Cancelling military operations” by the “LPR” does not affect the activity of terrorists since “LNR” has nothing to do with them.

That is, the “LNR” is a gang of crooks that benefits from chaos and uses rampant banditry in the region that is initiated by Russia with the purpose of portraying some kind of an “independent state formation.” Accordingly, by giving themselves the titles of “Prime Minister,” “Chairman of the Parliament,” “Defense Minister,” etc.

2. Under these conditions, any negotiation process with the “LNR” and “DNR” [Donetsk People’s Republic] is meaningless, since these are only two of the dozens of disparate groups of terrorists. Which are united by only one thing–financial and other assistance from Moscow, which is trying by all means to keep destabilizing the situation in Donbas.

3. We must recognize that we are not dealing with any single terrorist movement, united by a common idea, and having a single center of decision-making and management. We are dealing with a set of terrorist groups, each of whom pursues its own selfish goals.

Searching for the possibility of a peaceful dialogue with these groups is useless–we don’t propose, for example, for serial killers and maniacs to sit behind a negotiating table and seek consensus. With them there can be one conversation in the form of an ultimatum: surrender to justice or destruction.
