DMITRY TYMCHUK: ATO and Border Update, Luhansk and Donetsk – June 5, 2014

According to operational data from the IR group, Ukrainian border control guards are fighting at the border with Russia near the checkpoint of Marynivka [Donetsk Olbast]. From the Russian side of the border, a group of terrorists (composed of one APC, 4 KAMAZ trucks with mounted large-caliber heavy NSV machine guns, and four minibuses) stormed the border control unit. The border control guards destroyed 1 KAMAZ that broke through to invade the territory of Ukraine. Over a hundred insurgents coming from the rear on Ukrainian territory have closed in. The fighting is underway.

According to operational data from Information Resistance, last night [June 4-5] in the ATO zone passed without any major hostilities.

Throughout yesterday, two soldiers were injured as part of ATO forces–both are pilots (one suffered burns, the second was injured).

Over the past few hours, two Ukrainian special forces checkpoints in the northern part of Luhansk Oblast [region] were shelled. The servicemen returned fire; there are no casualties among them.

On return to base camp, the column of ATO forces was fired on. A minibus of terrorist attackers was destroyed by response fire. There are no casualties among the special forces.

The terrorist ammunition depot near the village of Semenivka by Sloviansk, which was hit by [Ukrainian] special forces yesterday, burned for several hours. For that whole time, explosions of ammunition were reported.
