Moscow is “concerned” by reports of an allegedly upcoming sale by Ukrainian “Yuzhmash” of production technology for intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) of the heavy [throw weight] class R-36M2 Voevoda (NATO SS-18 Satan) that are currently part of Russia’s armamanet.
“Ukraine, being a member of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) and the signatory of the Hague Code of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation (HCOC), is under serious political commitments,” Moscow broadcasts.
As in, Ukraine is obligated to abandon such plans since they allegedly violate international documents signed by Kyiv.
If I were the government of Ukraine, I would have given a simple answer to Moscow. Say what you will, dear brothers, Ukraine, just like Russia, madly respects international agreements and the interests of all its partners and neighbors. And it promises to faithfully obey international law. Just as Russia, faithfully complies with the Budapest Memorandum. Say “Hi” to Vova [diminuitive from Vladimir]. Full stop.
